Hari Angels Pertama di Malaysia

Malaysia's first-ever Angels Day in Kuala Lumpur successfully fostered collaboration, shared knowledge, and set a clear strategy for advancing stroke care across the region.

On 6  and 7 September 2024, over 100 healthcare professionals gathered for Malaysia Angels Day, a dynamic one-and-a-half-day event designed to empower non-stroke hospitals in establishing effective stroke services. The multidisciplinary team who attended the event included neurologists, internal medicine specialists, emergency physicians, radiologists, and nurses, all united in their commitment to improving stroke care. The first day of the event focused on empowering healthcare professionals by enhancing their stroke management skills through various hands-on workshops, including Hyperacute, Decision-Making, CT Imaging, and Post-Acute. These four workshops ran concurrently, which allowed attendees to split into three groups, ensuring that everyone could benefit from each workshop. These workshops focused to promote practical solutions aimed at:

  • Optimizing and standardizing the stroke pathway
  • Simplifying and streamlining the medical decision-making process
  • Providing a stepwise approach to interpreting CT imaging
  • Improving the quality and consistency of post-stroke interventions and monitoring using the Post-Stroke and Fever, Sugar, Swallow checklists.

The second day of the event included a session on quality monitoring emphasized the importance of data collection and shared experiences from established stroke hospitals.

Healthcare professionals from Sarawak General Hospital and Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar shared their experiences.

The day was further enlivened by the FAST Heroes Awareness campaign, which included a lively dance session with mascots to promote awareness of stroke symptoms and highlighted how children can be heroes in the fight against stroke.

The highlight of the event was the WSO Angels Awards and EMS Angels Award Ceremony, recognizing hospitals and Emergency Medical Services that demonstrated a clear commitment to quality stroke care. A total of 11 awards were presented for first and second quarter of 2024, with Prof. Dr. Hoo Fan Kee, President of the Malaysia Stroke Council, leading the presentations.

During the event, Mr. Cheong Yee Kok, General Manager and Head of Human Pharma, MSI and Dr. Mohd Azhar, Head of Medicine, MSI also joined as special guests in celebrating the achievements of these institutions.
